Minimum Starting Salary: $25.20 per hour

What You Will Do – Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Employee plans and implements community outreach activities; generates positive media coverage for agency programs and events; promotes the mission and work of the agency and the need for community contacts (faith-based organizations, corporations, civic, social, and educational organizations, etc.); produces and disseminates public service materials and publications and conducts speaking engagements on behalf of Franklin County Children Services and represents the Agency on other initiatives.
- Writes and edits news releases and articles for FCCS internal and external publications, social media, and digital platforms and videos. Proofreads and edits agency material as assigned. Maintains and monitors agency website content as assigned. Serves as publications editor and researcher as assigned.
- Promotes the mission and work of the agency by conducting community outreach and assisting with public events planning including but not limited to the Child Abuse Prevention Breakfast, National Family Week, National Adoption Week, foster care, adoption, and volunteer recruitment campaigns, faith-based initiatives, speaking engagements, displays and other community education or awareness campaigns as assigned. Takes photographs/videos at events and promotes events accordingly. Develops partnerships for community engagement; maintains and coordinates the agency’s Speaker’s Bureau and Community Engagement Team.
- Collaborates with direct service staff on Agency initiatives that promote child protection, kinship care, adoption, mentorship/volunteerism, and foster care. Develops partnerships for community engagement and promotion of all agency programs, responsible for internal and external literature distribution.
- Helps write and edit agency TV and radio spots, videos, and news articles used to strengthen the agency’s message. Serves on agency and community committees and task groups to promote child protection, kinship care, adoption, foster care, human resources, and/or volunteer recruitment and retention. Attends department, divisional and committee meetings; meets with supervisor to discuss projects and performs other related duties as assigned.

What will make you successful:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field plus 6 mos. post relevant experience; and sensitivity and appreciation for diverse religions and cultures.
- Strong writer and editor, and excellent communication, organizational, and planning skills,
- Able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Must demonstrate an understanding of website development and social media platforms.
- Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Photoshop Illustrator, InDesign, and Premier) and website contact management including basic HTML coding.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field plus 3 years post-relevant experience.
- Experience in Photography, video production, and editing.
- Experience in public speaking, speech, or communications or in presenting informational talks or delivering speeches;
- Advanced news writing & reporting;

Certification or Licensure:
- Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License with automobile insurance that complies with Franklin County Children Services agency policy. Travel can occasionally include out-state-travel which may require airline travel
