About MOTO(acquire)
MOTO(acquire) is a fast-growing Chicago startup co-founded by Mike Crothers and Russell “RussFlipsWhips” Richardson. We’re building software our automotive partners love to use, marketing differently in a traditional industry, and creating a fun, high-energy culture — including ping pong tournaments as our Monday morning meetings.
We are a B2B software company in the automotive space, helping car dealerships convert more website visitors, re-engage past customers, and acquire more vehicles directly from consumers through modern, high-converting software.
Our team is small, fast-moving, creative, and ambitious. We’re looking for someone who wants to be close to the action, learn how a startup grows, and help us tell our story in a way that feels different from typical automotive software companies.
About the Role
We’re looking for a sharp, creative, energetic marketing intern to work directly with our CEO in our downtown Chicago office.
This role is ideal for someone who understands social media, knows how to film and edit short-form content, and wants hands-on experience building a real marketing engine inside a growing startup.
A big part of this role will be helping us create more founder-led content. You’ll help film, edit, package, and post content across LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and other platforms.
You’ll also help create customer-facing marketing assets such as PDFs, one-pagers, social graphics, case studies, and sales materials using our design system.
This is not a “sit in the corner and observe” internship. You’ll be helping create real content, real ads, real assets, and real marketing campaigns for a company that is actively growing.
What You’ll Do
- Film short-form content with the CEO, co-founders, and team in our Chicago office.
- Edit videos for LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
- Pull strong clips from longer conversations, product walkthroughs, customer stories, and team discussions.
- Write captions, hooks, thumbnails, and social post copy.
- Help manage a simple content calendar.
- Repurpose founder thoughts, customer wins, product demos, and industry commentary into social content.
- Help create ad creative for paid social campaigns.
- Assist with posting and basic performance tracking.
- Create simple branded PDFs, one-pagers, case studies, sales assets, and customer-facing materials.
- Help make our marketing feel more modern, more interesting, and more human than typical automotive software marketing.
- Organize content files, raw footage, brand assets, and reusable clips.
- Bring new ideas for content formats, social trends, campaigns, and creative ways to tell our story.
What We’re Looking For
- Current college student or recent grad in marketing, design, film, communications, advertising, entrepreneurship, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and LinkedIn content.
- Comfortable filming content on an iPhone or basic camera setup.
- Experience editing video in CapCut, Premiere, Final Cut, Descript, Canva, or similar tools.
- Good eye for design, layout, pacing, hooks, and what makes content interesting.
- Strong writing instincts for short-form social copy.
- Energetic, organized, curious, and willing to move fast.
- Comfortable working in person in downtown Chicago.
- Interest in startups, software, cars, creators, or B2B marketing is a plus.
Why This Is a Great Opportunity
- Work directly with the CEO of a fast-growing Chicago startup.
- Help build the marketing engine for a real B2B software company.
- Create actual content, ads, sales assets, and campaigns that will be used in market.
- Get hands-on experience with founder-led content, paid ads, social media, and product marketing.
- Learn how a startup sells, markets, grows, and builds culture.
- Work around automotive creators, software operators, and a team trying to market differently in a traditional industry.
- Build portfolio pieces that are real, measurable, and tied to business outcomes.
- Join a fun office culture where Monday morning meetings may include ping pong tournaments.
How to Apply
Send your resume, LinkedIn profile, portfolio, TikTok/Instagram/YouTube examples, or any content/design work you’re proud of.
A polished resume matters less than showing that you can create, edit, think creatively, and move quickly.
We’d love to see:
- Short-form videos you’ve filmed or edited.
- Social posts, graphics, or carousels you’ve made.
- Any Canva, design, PDF, or presentation work.
- A quick note on why this role sounds interesting to you.
