ELA Teacher
At Brooklyn Lab, teachers don't just teach — they inspire a lifelong love of learning. We're a small, intentional school community where every scholar is known by name, and every educator helps drive two to three years of academic growth on average.
We're looking for a passionate, rigorous ELA teacher who believes in the power of literacy to open doors. You'll deliver Common Core-aligned instruction, use data to sharpen your practice, mentor students through advisory, and build the kind of relationships that make scholars feel seen — and push them to exceed their own expectations.
What we're looking for:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in English language and/or literature, creative writing, General Education or a related field (Master’s Degree preferred)
- Certification to teach in New York State or a willingness and path to become certified
- A proven record of academic achievement as a student and an educator
- At least 2 years of teaching experience in diverse and urban areas
- Commitment to LAB’s mission and vision for excellence
- A growth mindset and the ability to work as part of a team
- Comfort with accountability and the ability to absorb feedback for the development of your craft and the scholars in your care
If you're an ELA educator who wants your words — and your work — to matter deeply, we'd love to hear from you. Apply directly through Brooklyn Lab's careers page by clicking here.
