Business Development Analyst
Business Development Analyst
This role sits within Fortress Service Partners, a Ridgepeak Partners portfolio company.
Position Overview
Fortress Service Partners is a private equity-backed residential services platform building scale through partnership with founder-operators. We are seeking a Business Development Analyst to drive top-of-funnel deal sourcing across our residential services vertical, working directly with firm leadership to build the proprietary pipeline that fuels our acquisition strategy.
The Analyst's mandate is to generate, qualify, and hand off a consistent flow of opportunities to the firm's M&A team - owning the first impression Fortress makes with prospective sellers and the quality of the pipeline that follows. The role is focused exclusively on identifying and developing acquisition opportunities; it does not include diligence, financial modeling, or transaction execution responsibilities.
This is a dedicated sourcing seat designed for candidates who want to build a long-term career in business development and deal origination, and who recognize that proprietary sourcing is a foundational skill in this industry.
Candidate Profile
Our ideal candidate is energized by relationship-driven business development. Successful candidates may come from backgrounds in outbound sales, business development, private equity sourcing, or finance-oriented internships and early career roles.
Regardless of background, candidates should be comfortable operating in a high-activity, metrics-driven environment and engaging directly with business owners and industry professionals.
Successful candidates will be motivated by the opportunity to help business owners grow their businesses while contributing to Fortress’ long-term growth strategy.
Responsibilities
- Identify Acquisition Targets: Research and identify prospective acquisition opportunities across targeted geographies and service lines within Fortress’ residential services vertical.
- Execute Outbound Outreach: Operate with a high level of outbound activity through cold calling, targeted email campaigns, and multi-touch outreach sequences.
- Build Industry Relationships: Develop relationships with business owners, brokers, investment bankers, and other industry intermediaries within assigned markets.
- Qualify Investment Opportunities: Analyze prospective acquisition opportunities through conversations with business owners and intermediaries, assessing strategic fit, business fundamentals, growth profile, and alignment with Fortress’ acquisition strategy.
- Manage Pipeline Activity: Maintain accurate CRM records, outreach tracking, follow-up cadence, and detailed call notes across active opportunities.
- Support Internal Handoff: Organize and present opportunity-related data, call notes, and preliminary business information through clear CRM documentation, internal summaries, and presentation materials for investment team review.
- Represent Fortress in the Market: Engage directly with founders and intermediaries, building trust while communicating Fortress’ partnership-oriented approach with professionalism and authenticity.
Qualifications & Personal Attributes
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, or a related field.
- Strong academic performance, with a preferred GPA of 3.5 or higher; candidates with relevant work experience will also be evaluated on documented sales or sourcing performance.
- Experience in an outreach-driven field such as sales, business development, sourcing, or client development.
- Demonstrated financial and commercial acumen through coursework, internships, or work experience in investment banking, private equity, consulting, finance, accounting, or other analytical business environments.
- Evidence of accountability, initiative, and teamwork through athletics, leadership positions, extracurricular involvement, or other performance-oriented activities.
- Comfortable communicating directly with business owners in a professional, credible, and relationship-oriented manner.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage a structured outreach process across a high volume of concurrent opportunities.
- Competitive and performance-oriented, with motivation tied to measurable goals and outcomes.
- Intermediate proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; ability to build clean presentations, manipulate data, and interpret basic financial information.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to work in person at our Austin headquarters.
