Marketing & Media Intern
Spice Witch is a small-batch specialty food brand in Asheville, NC, making bold chili crisps, chili oils, infused honeys, and spice blends. We're looking for a creative, curious Marketing & Media Intern to help tell our story across social media, email, and content. You'll work directly with the founder — a commercial photographer with ~15 years of brand experience — for genuine mentorship and a behind-the-scenes look at how a modern food brand is built. This is a learning-first role: we want you to leave with real skills, a portfolio of published work, and a feel for what it takes to grow a brand.
Responsibilities (a flexible mix based on your interests and goals):
- Create and schedule social media content, including Instagram posts and Reels
- Draft and edit marketing copy — captions, newsletters, product descriptions, blog posts
- Assist with photo and video shoots: styling, behind-the-scenes content, organizing assets
- Support email marketing campaigns
- Brainstorm campaign ideas and help track what's working
- Get exposure to the wider business: wholesale, local markets, retail, and brand strategy
What we're looking for:
- Interest in marketing, media, communications, content creation, or food/brand storytelling
- Strong writing skills and an eye for visual content
- Creativity, initiative, and a willingness to learn
- Comfort with (or curiosity about) Instagram, Canva, and email tools — no expertise required, we'll teach you
- Bonus: photography, video, or design experience
What you'll gain:
- Direct mentorship from a founder with deep commercial photography and brand experience
- Hands-on experience across social, email, content, and brand strategy
- A portfolio of real published work
- An inside look at running and growing a small food business
Logistics:
- ~150 hours over the semester (or summer), with a flexible schedule we'll set together
- Based in Asheville, NC (some remote work possible)
- Stipend offered
- One dedicated supervisor (the founder) with regular check-ins and feedback
To apply: send a short note about why you're interested, along with any relevant work or social/content samples.
