Odyssey Painting & Construction is a growing residential painting, wood rot repair, siding, and exterior construction company serving the Kansas City metro. We help homeowners protect and improve their homes through high-quality exterior work, strong communication, and a professional customer experience.
We are looking for motivated students or recent graduates who want real-world sales experience, leadership development, and the opportunity to earn based on performance.
Position Overview
The Sales Intern will help generate new business by speaking with homeowners in targeted neighborhoods in Olathe and Overland Park, introducing Odyssey’s services, and setting appointments for our sales team.
This is a hands-on sales role. You will learn how to approach potential customers, start conversations, identify homeowner needs, handle rejection professionally, and schedule qualified estimates.
This internship is a great fit for someone interested in sales, marketing, entrepreneurship, business development, management, or owning a business one day.
Schedule
This internship runs Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
2:00 PM–3:00 PM: Daily sales meeting, training, roleplay, and preparation
3:00 PM–7:00 PM: Door-to-door canvassing in Olathe and Overland Park neighborhoods
Afternoon and early evening availability is required because that is when homeowners are most likely to be available.
Responsibilities
Attend daily sales meetings and training from 2:00 PM–3:00 PM
Canvass targeted residential neighborhoods in Olathe and Overland Park from 3:00 PM–7:00 PM
Introduce Odyssey Painting & Construction to homeowners
Identify potential needs related to exterior painting, wood rot repair, siding, and other exterior projects
Set appointments for homeowners to receive a professional estimate
Track activity and leads using company-provided software
Participate in roleplay, sales coaching, and team discussions
Communicate clearly with the office and sales team
Represent Odyssey professionally in neighborhoods
Learn basic sales skills including prospecting, communication, objection handling, and follow-up

Qualifications
Current college student or recent graduate preferred
Sales, customer service, athletics, leadership, or work experience is a plus
Must have reliable transportation to Olathe and Overland Park neighborhoods
Must be able to walk neighborhoods for extended periods
Must be comfortable using a phone or tablet to track leads
Must be punctual, dependable, and professional
Compensation
This is a paid internship with an hourly base plus performance bonuses.
Compensation includes:
Hourly base pay
Bonuses for qualified leads
Additional bonuses for higher weekly performance
