Social Media Intern

KEY Social Media Intern

About KEY

KEY is the world's first energy drink made with ketones. We're rewriting the energy drink category for people who actually care what they put in their bodies — no high caffeine chaos and no crash. Just clean, sustained energy.

We are founded by two female founders (Karishma and Tekla) who got tired of choosing between energy that worked and energy that wrecked them. KEY is sold at retailers across the country and is growing fast -500+ stores across the country.

We're scrappy, ambitious, and we move fast. Now we need someone to help us bring the brand to life online.

The Role

We're hiring a Social Media Intern to own our day-to-day content on Instagram and TikTok. You'll edit raw footage from real-world activations (think: Nike run clubs, sauna studios, retail launches, founder events), build out a proactive content calendar, and help shape the founder-led story that's driving this brand.

You'll work directly with the founders. If you have taste, are native to social, and want to help build a brand from the ground up — this is for you.

What You'll Do

  • Edit. Turn 10-minute raw clips into scroll-stopping 30-second Reels and TikToks. We capture a lot of content — we need someone who can cut it.
  • Plan. Build a content calendar 2–4 weeks ahead. No more 'what do we post today.'
  • Post. Manage day-to-day posting across Instagram and TikTok — Reels, carousels, stills, Stories.
  • Capture the founder story. Help script and edit founder-led content — Karishma's health journey, the science behind ketones, the why behind the brand.
  • Bring activations online. We're constantly out in the wild (run clubs, retail demos, partnerships). You'll turn those moments into content.
  • Catch trends early. Spot trending audio, formats, and cultural moments before they peak — and adapt them to our voice.
  • Engage. Reply to comments and DMs in the brand voice. Build community, not just followers.

What We're Looking For

  • You live on TikTok and Instagram. You know what's working this week, not last quarter.
  • You can edit in CapCut (or equivalent) and turn around polished cuts fast.
  • You write captions that sound like a person, not a brand.
  • You're proactive — you bring ideas, not just ask 'what should I do.'
  • You care about wellness, food, beverage, or culture brands.
  • You're available 15–20 hours per week, with consistent output.
  • You can show us a portfolio, sample edits, or accounts you've worked on (personal or professional).

Bonus Points

  • You're NYC-based and can show up to occasional activations in person to capture content.
  • You've worked on or grown a brand account (a school org, side project, or internship counts).
  • You've shot or edited founder-led / talking-head content before.
  • You have experience with UGC, influencer outreach, or community management.
  • You're studying marketing, communications, film, media, or anything related — but a great portfolio matters more than a major.

Logistics

  • Hours: 15–20 hours per week
  • Pay: $20–25/hour
  • Location: Remote-friendly. NYC preferred so you can attend activations and meet with the team.
  • Start date: ASAP — we're looking to hire within the next few weeks.

How to Apply

Apply through Handshake and include the following:

  • A short note on why this role caught your eye (a few sentences is plenty — no cover letter needed).
  • Links to any social accounts you've run, personal or for a brand. We care more about the work than the resume.
  • One Reel or TikTok edit you're proud of (yours, or one you've helped make).
  • Optional: your favorite brand on social right now, and why.

We read every application. If your energy lines up with ours, we'll move fast.
