DIG also serves environmental firms and government regulatory agencies and plays a significant role in the implementation of programs that ensure these activities occur with minimal impact to the environment.

We invite applications for LIMS Technical Assistant in our state‐of‐the‐art environmental laboratory. The laboratory provides a unique range of analytical testing services to clients across multiple industries, making our environment cleaner, safer, and more sustainable.

This position is well suited to someone who possesses excellent organizational skills, an astute attention to detail, and the enthusiasm to deliver the superior level of customer service our clientele have come to expect. The position is also well suited to someone with high personal and scientific integrity, who will commit to providing accurate, traceable, and legally defensible data. This position will assist with crucial tasks in the laboratory that keep our day-to-day operations running smoothly, such as the accurate intake of samples, shipping sampling equipment, and managing sample storage and disposal.

 

Summary:

DIG is seeking a detail-oriented and organized LIMS Technical Assistant to support the daily “heartbeat” of our commercial environmental testing laboratory. This role is an entry-level internship, and it is critical to ensure that environmental samples are received accurately, data are entered with 100% integrity, and the laboratory remains compliant with strict regulatory standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a student or recent graduate to gain experience in a professional, fast-paced, high-compliance environment and learn the fundamentals of Chain of Custody, LIMS management, and laboratory quality systems.

 

Job duties include:

  • Review Chains of Custody and sample conditions to comply with hold times, turnaround times, and analytical requirements
  • Ensure valid transferring of samples from customer to laboratory
  • Communicate with customers to resolve sample integrity issues
  • Log sample information into Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
  • Log receiving of laboratory equipment, standards, and reagents into LIMS
  • Transfer, store, and dispose of samples as specified in lab protocols & SOPs
  • Provide administrative support, including answering professional inquiries via phone/email and in person, and assisting with inventory of lab consumables
  • Follow safety protocols and quality guidelines (ISO 17025/NELAP) to ensure the lab maintains its accreditation

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Bachelor’s or Associate’s program (Open to STEM, Business or related fields)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and an ability to learn new software platforms quickly
  • Proven ability to perform repetitive tasks with a high degree of accuracy and a “zero-error” mindset
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting technical discrepancies
  • Ability to interact with industry clients in a professional and courteous manner
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs (coolers/sample containers) and stand for extended periods during intake process
  • Must have reliable transportation to the Westminster area for consistent weekday schedule
  • Legally allowed to work in the US

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in data entry, document control, or a warehouse/logistics environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Access and/or Visual Basic programming language
  • Experience with LIMS software or database management
  • Familiarity with “Chain of Custody” protocols and basic laboratory safety
  • Knowledge of water chemistry, geochemistry, or analytical chemistry
  • Local to Northern Denver Metro/Westminster corridor are highly encouraged to apply for a fast-track start

 

Additional information:

This position is part-time, 30 hrs/wk, Monday – Friday 10am-5pm, with a flexible lunch hour. The hourly range for this position is $19.00 – $21.00 per hour. Final compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience, education, and proficiency.
