Business Development Trainee | Premium Merchant Funding Midtown Manhattan | In-Person in NYC Only | June & July Start Dates for 2026 Grads
"Nobody works here that isn't a millionaire or on their way to becoming one." — Seth Davis, Boiler Room
Your talent was never the question. The opportunity was. And here it is.
The Opportunity
Premium Merchant Funding is the largest broker in the alternative lending industry, headquartered on Wall Street. In the last 15 years we have grown into an organization of 26 offices across 4 countries built entirely on one system: developing leaders from within. This year we are pushing to hit 6 billion in funded deals and our Midtown Manhattan office is looking to double the $20 million in commissions we paid out to 50 to 60 agents in 2025. That is the room you are walking into.
This is a financial sales opportunity in the same spirit of The Pursuit of Happyness. Every business owner whose trust you earn becomes a page in your book of business that can pay you multiple times a year through repeat business and referrals. You are not just closing deals. You are building an asset that compounds over time and belongs to you.
The Role
This is an onsite, in-office inside sales role. We make outbound calls to small business owners who need capital because the cost of doing business has never been higher and the banks are moving slower and saying no more often than yes. Your job is to earn their trust, understand why they need the money, and generate a funding application. From there our closers take it to the finish line.
Right now our closers are funding 20 out of every 50 applications the team submits. That is one of the highest conversion rates in the industry. Your focus is the relationship and the application. Trust the system and trust the closers. We provide the leads. You build the book.
The average new agent earns between $80,000 and $150,000 in their first year on the desk. Most agents begin seeing return clients and referrals after their 50th application, which takes an average of 3 to 6 months to reach. That is when the book starts working for you.
The Growth Path
Every one of our 26 offices is run by someone who started in this exact role. Not an outside hire. Not an MBA. Someone who came in where you are right now and built their way up. PMF promotes based on the size of the book of business you can grow and manage.
Step one: establish your book of business. Step two: run a desk and focus on closing deals within the office. Step three: build a team and manage an office within the office. Step four: move your team into your own office. Our newest office opened in May 2026. The path from entry level to team management takes 11 months to 2 years for the right person.
The Culture & Training
The Midtown office has deep roots in where it all started on 55 Waterman Street. The culture is Wall Street brokerage by design. We work hard Monday through Thursday and Friday is a short day. Wednesday nights we play poker. Thursday is a team night. Leadership buys food and drinks when we hit numbers and they are always running spiffs so the team can earn extra on top of their commissions.
From day one we invest in you. Two weeks of hands-on training to help you submit your first application. After that you move into a six month mentorship program to help you establish the first chapter of your book of business. You are not handed a desk and wished luck. You are trained, mentored, and pushed.
Who We Hire
We recruit for three profiles that consistently rise to the top here.
Veterans and Athletes: discipline, the daily routine, the love of competition, and the ability to earn your position rather than wait for it are the same traits that build top performers and office managers on Wall Street. Twenty of our 26 office managers are former athletes or veterans. That is not a coincidence.
College Grads in Greek Life or Club Leadership: the confidence to talk numbers with business owners is already there. Many of our desk managers and closers come from this background. We extend offers before graduation but require an in-person final round at our Midtown office, four blocks from Port Authority and one block from Grand Central in the heart of New York City.
Previous Sales Experience: if you have worked the door, the phone, or the floor for someone else you already understand the Law of Averages. Our closers are funding 20 out of every 50 applications submitted. It takes 200 no's to get your first yes and at PMF every yes is worth $500 to $10,000 + in commission. You have been working harder for less pay and less opportunity. That changes here.
The details are in the role. The decision is yours.
