Video Producer (Contract)

Company: Flash Benefits (flashbenefits.io) Engagement: Independent contractor, project-based Compensation: Per-video deliverable (see below) Location: Twin Cities area for filming days; editing remote Start date: Negotiable

About FlashBenefits

FlashBenefits is on a mission to fix one of the most confusing experiences in American work life: understanding your benefits. We're launching a video series built on a simple premise — most people can't answer basic questions about their own benefits, and we're going to prove it on camera.

The project

We're producing a series of street-style videos where we ask people benefits questions and pay them real money if they answer correctly. We need a contractor to help us produce these from start to finish.

Your deliverables per episode:

  • Help recruit and schedule on-camera participants
  • Coordinate and run the shoot day (Twin Cities)
  • Capture footage and manage audio
  • Edit into one 5-8 minute YouTube episode and 2-3 vertical clips (LinkedIn, TikTok, Reels, Shorts)
  • Occasional secondary edits using anonymized or public-domain benefits materials

Compensation

$400 per fully delivered episode package (long-form + vertical clips). Roughly equivalent to $18-22/hr based on expected scope. Paid on delivery. Open to negotiating bundled rates for committed multi-episode engagements.

Who we're looking for

  • Strong video editing skills (Premiere, Final Cut, DaVinci, CapCut, or Descript)
  • Comfort with AI-assisted production tools (Descript, HeyGen, Higgsfield) — or eagerness to learn
  • Confident approaching strangers on camera with respect and good judgment
  • A clear point of view on what makes short-form content actually work
  • Reliable, deadline-driven, owns their work

To apply

Send to josh@flashbenefits.io:

  1. A short note on why this project interests you
  2. Resume or LinkedIn
  3. One or two video samples you've produced or edited. Original work in any style is fine — taste matters more than polish.

Rolling review. We'll close the role once we find the right fit.
