Part-Time Research Assistant - Sleep Medicine Research Site
We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Research Assistant to support a growing sleep medicine clinical research program in Auburn, Alabama. This role is ideal for a motivated pre-medical student, gap year student, or early healthcare professional interested in gaining hands-on clinical research and patient care experience in a fast-paced environment.
This position requires flexibility, professionalism, and a willingness to assist with daytime activities and occasional overnight sleep study support and evening patient visits as needed.
Position Summary
The Research Assistant will support clinical trial operations, patient visits, recruitment activities, and general research workflows for a busy sleep research site. The ideal candidate is highly organized, technologically savvy, patient-focused, and comfortable working in a clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist research staff with patient visits and study procedures
- Support participant recruitment, scheduling, and follow-up communications
- Assist with overnight sleep study operations as needed
- Support evening and occasional weekend patient visits
- Perform basic clinical tasks including:
- Vital signs
- ECGs (if trained)
- Specimen processing
- Documentation support
- Assist with source documentation and data entry
- Maintain organization of study binders, supplies, and research materials
- Utilize clinical research technology platforms and electronic systems
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with research protocols and GCP standards
- Provide excellent patient interaction and customer service
Qualifications
- Current college student, pre-med/pre-PA/pre-nursing student, allied health, or gap year student strongly preferred
- Strong reliability, professionalism, and communication skills required
- Comfortable interacting with patients in a clinical setting
- Excellent technology and computer skills required
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work flexible evening hours and occasional overnight shifts
- Prior clinical, laboratory, EMT, MA, CNA, or healthcare experience preferred
- Phlebotomy skills or certification are a strong plus
- Interest in medicine, sleep medicine, clinical research, or healthcare careers preferred
Schedule
- Approximately 10–15 hours per week
- Flexible scheduling based on study needs
- Some evening and overnight availability required
Compensation
- $20–$22/hour depending on experience and clinical skill set
