Laboratory Technician - Provisional
Jefferson Community College, Watertown, New York, a member of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, is conducting a search for a full-time Laboratory Technician - Provisional. This work involves responsibility for the daily safe operation and maintenance of equipment and materials in a college instructional laboratory. The Laboratory Technician sets up and maintains experiments, controls inventory, cleans up waste disposal, and where necessary, provides individual assistance in the use of instructional material to students. The position does not include direct curriculum development, preparation of lesson plans, or grading of students. Supervision is exercised over a Laboratory Assistant and several student workers. The work is performed under the general direction of the Science Division Chairperson in accordance with faculty member's directions in preparation of lab exercises.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either:
(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry or closely related field; OR
(B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an associate's degree in biology, chemistry, or closely related field and two years of technical laboratory experience; OR
(C) An Equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above
PROMOTION:
Two years of permanent competitive class status as Laboratory Assistant.
