Full-time Social Services Attorney II sought for Madison County Department of Social Services.  This is professional legal work for the County Department of Social Services which involves responsibility for providing legal services to the various divisions of the County Department of Social Services. The work is performed under the administrative direction of the Commissioner of Social Services and the general supervision of the Supervising Social Services Attorney in accordance with overall policies of the department with latitude for the exercise of independent judgment in applying legal knowledge to specific problems and taking appropriate legal action.  The incumbent performs related duties as required.

This position is a Managerial/Confidential (M/C) position that includes an M/C benefit package.

2026 Hiring Salary:   $91,052/yr

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a law school recognized by the University of the State of New York, admission to the Bar of the State of New York, and three (3) years of full-time paid experience, or its part-time equivalent, in the practice of law.

NOTE:  Current registration with the New York State Office of Court Administration at the time of appointment and maintained throughout the appointment.  The successful candidate must also comply with continuing legal education requirements throughout appointment.
