Job Title: PT VETERINARY ASSISTANT Job #1135-1 

Application Dates: Open Until Filled 

Salary Range/Pay Rate: $16.92 - $18.61 per hour (commensurate with experience).


The County is currently accepting applications for the position of PT Veterinary Assistant. This position assists the Veterinarian on assessing the health of animals on intake; provides daily medications and treatments to animals including injections and oral and topical medications; assists Veterinarian in performing diagnostic and medical procedures and surgery; monitors anesthesia; documents animal intake data into shelter software; monitors populations of shelter through shelter software; and provides sign off oversight to daily cleaning crew of shelter. Works approximately 19 hours per week. No more than 999 hours per calendar year.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
Requires knowledge of accepted practices of animal care and handling; knowledge of herd management animal husbandry; and skill in the care and treatment of animals, administering medications, and vaccinations.
Requires a high school diploma and six months experience in an animal care field; administrative, public service, or customer service experience a plus. Associate’s Degree in animal care or veterinary assistant preferred.
