Mixed Animal Associate Veterinarian

Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and team-oriented mixed animal associate veterinarian to join our growing veterinary practice. This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse caseload including small animals, livestock, small ruminants, and equine, depending on interest and experience. The ideal candidate values high-quality medicine, clear client communication, and collaboration with a supportive veterinary team.

Our clinic is a well-established mixed animal practice serving a loyal client base in a community that values veterinary care for both companion animals and livestock. We pride ourselves on practicing practical, evidence-based medicine while maintaining a positive, team-focused work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical, surgical, and preventive care to small and large animal patients
  • Perform routine and emergency examinations, diagnostics, and treatments
  • Conduct common surgical procedures (e.g., spay/neuter, laceration repair, C-sections, exploratory surgeries, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients through clear communication and education
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records
  • Participate in shared large animal on-call shifts
  • Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to deliver efficient, high-quality patient care

Species Mix (Typical)

  • Small Animal (Dogs & Cats): ~60–80%
  • Large Animal (Cattle, Goats, Sheep, Equine, Swine, Poultry, Camelids): ~20–40%

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited veterinary school
  • Eligible for state veterinary licensure
  • Interest in mixed animal medicine
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently in both clinic and field settings
  • New graduates and experienced veterinarians are encouraged to apply

Schedule

  • Full-time preferred
  • Flexible scheduling options may be available
  • Shared on-call large animal shifts (details discussed during interview)
