WORSHIP INTERN OBJECTIVE
The primary role of this position is to support and lead Quarry’s musical worship ministry during the summer months by planning, organizing, and leading worship for weekend services. This internship is designed to provide meaningful hands-on ministry experience for a young leader exploring a future calling in worship ministry.
The Worship Intern will serve the church by helping create worship environments that are spiritually grounded, well planned, and led with excellence, humility, and pastoral awareness.

- Weekend worship services are planned and led in a way that helps the congregation worship God meaningfully.
- Rehearsals are organized, efficient, and spiritually healthy.

- Planning Center plans are accurate, timely, and easy for the team to follow.

KEY RESULT AREAS
1. Weekend Worship Planning & Leadership
- Plan and prepare musical worship for Quarry’s Sunday morning services at 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM.
- Make song selections in Planning Center in coordination with the Arts Team and supervising pastor.
- Ensure songs are relevant, singable, theologically aligned, and appropriate for the congregation and sermon emphasis.
- Lead worship for both Sunday morning services with musical skill, spiritual maturity, and pastoral sensitivity.
- Help create services that are organized, distraction-free, and centered on glorifying God.
2. Rehearsal Leadership
- Lead Saturday morning worship rehearsals with preparedness, clarity, and encouragement.
- Ensure team members know arrangements, song flow, dynamics, transitions, and any key musical details before Sunday.
- Foster a rehearsal culture marked by humility, excellence, encouragement, and teamwork.
- Solve problems calmly and communicate adjustments clearly as needed.
3. Team Communication & Coordination
- Use Planning Center to schedule, organize, and communicate with volunteer musicians and vocalists.
- Ensure team members receive charts, recordings, service order details, and correct song keys in a timely manner.
- Follow up as needed with volunteers to keep communication clear and dependable.
- Coordinate with relevant leaders to ensure worship plans are prepared and accessible each week.
4. Arts Team Participation
- Attend Arts Team meetings consistently throughout the internship.
- Contribute to planning conversations with humility, flexibility, and a team-first mindset.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to support the broader vision of weekend services.
5. Personal & Ministry Development
- Receive coaching and feedback from supervising leaders throughout the summer.
- Demonstrate a teachable spirit and a desire to grow in both character and competency.
- Develop a stronger understanding of the spiritual, relational, and organizational demands of worship ministry.
- Grow in confidence as a worship leader, planner, and communicator.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend Arts Team meetings
- Make song selections in Planning Center
- Communicate with volunteer team members through Planning Center
- Provide charts, song links, and key information for scheduled musicians and vocalists
- Lead Saturday morning rehearsals
- Lead worship during the 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM Sunday services
- Coordinate with supervising staff regarding service planning and execution
- Represent Quarry’s mission, vision, and values with character and professionalism
POSITIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
- The Worship Intern will be supervised, supported, and directly report to the Associate Pastor or designated ministry supervisor.
- The Worship Intern will work closely with the Arts Team and volunteer musicians and vocalists.
- The Worship Intern is expected to receive coaching well and maintain healthy communication with staff and volunteers.
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience leading worship in a church, college ministry, or similar congregational setting
- Proficiency with Planning Center
- Ability to lead worship vocally while accompanying from guitar or piano
- Strong musical instincts, including the ability to select songs and lead arrangements effectively
- Ability to organize, communicate with, and lead volunteer team members clearly
- Strong time management and preparation skills
- Dependability, relational intelligence, and attention to detail
- A teachable spirit and genuine desire to grow in worship ministry
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Current college student or recent college-aged adult pursuing experience in worship ministry
- Active involvement in worship leadership at a home church, campus ministry, or similar setting
- Familiarity with basic worship ministry tools and workflows
- Some experience leading rehearsals or coordinating volunteer musicians

WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position is a part-time summer internship running from the first week of June through August.
- Hours will vary week to week based on planning meetings, preparation, rehearsals, and Sunday services.
- The schedule will typically include Arts Team meetings, weekly planning work, Saturday morning rehearsals, and Sunday morning services.
- Most responsibilities will take place on-site at Quarry, with some planning and communication work completed remotely as needed.
