Medical Receptionist

We are seeking a Medical Receptionist to join our team. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in delivering exceptional patient care and managing administrative tasks with efficiency. They should be organized, detail-oriented, and well-versed with both retail and medical environments.

Work Schedule: Tuesdays (10AM-7PM), Wednesdays (10AM-7PM), Thursdays (10AM-5PM), Fridays (10AM-5PM), Saturdays (9AM-2PM)

Job Type: Full-time; On-site

Ability to Commute: 428 US-202/206, Bedminster, NJ, 07921(Required)

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing office operations and ensure efficiency
  • Managing phone systems and handle incoming calls
  • Coordinating vendor relationships and manage office supplies/inventory
  • Maintaining organized files and patient records
  • Reviewing eligibility and insurance benefits to patients 
  • Verifying patient insurance information 
  • Handling calendar management for appointment scheduling
  • Effectively assisting patients/clients with selecting eyewear that meets their needs while guiding them on proper usage and care
  • Ensuring complete compliance with health regulations/standards related to patient care
  • Accurately ordering contact lenses for patients and verifying prescriptions prior to dispensing 
  • Informing patients of their financial responsibilities prior to their appointments
  • Reviewing pricing for eyeglasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses with respective rebates
  • Assist the optometrist with additional tasks and support clinical operations 
  • Handling billing, coding and insurance claims, ensuring accurate and timely processing
  • Implementing and managing office policies and procedures to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards 
  • Fostering a positive work environment

Qualifications 

  • 1-2+ years of experience as a front desk receptionist or similar role 
  • Strong training development skills
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Knowledge of computerized medical office software and proficiency in calendar/schedule management
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively 
  • Experience in a customer service role, preferably in a health care or retail setting 
  • Familiarity with optical terminology and products 
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues 
  • Friendly and professional demeanor with a customer service mindset 
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality 
  • Communicate efficiently at all levels (both written and verbal) 
  • Proficient in medical billing and acquiring insurance information
  • Assist the optometrist with additional tasks and support clinical operations
