Video Engineer — The Chat Room Podcast Studio (Miami Beach)

 

The Chat Room Podcast Studio is seeking a highly detail-oriented and technically proficient Video Engineer to manage in-studio recordings and ensure seamless production across all podcast shoots. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring all audio, video, and live-switching equipment to deliver high-quality content for our clients.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate all studio equipment, including cameras, lighting, Blackmagic switcher, RODECaster, and Mac systems

• Ensure all cameras are properly connected, framed (using rule of thirds), and recording with correct settings (29.97 fps, 1/60 shutter, appropriate aperture)

• Manage live switching and recording when required, including SSD and switcher recording workflows

• Set up and monitor audio, including microphone placement, sound checks, and level balancing to ensure clean, non-peaking audio

• Prepare studio environments across multiple sets (Ocean Set and others), including lighting setup and monitor configuration

• Oversee teleprompter setup and operation when needed, including script loading and adjustments

• Support remote recordings (e.g., Riverside), including camera, audio, and monitor routing for virtual interviews

• Ensure all recording media (SD cards, SSDs) are properly inserted, have sufficient storage, and are functioning

• Monitor recordings in real time to ensure all systems are capturing properly (cameras, audio, switcher)

• Maintain a clean, organized, and production-ready studio environment

 

Qualifications:

• Experience with multi-camera video production and live switching (Blackmagic preferred)

• Strong understanding of camera settings, framing, and lighting

• Proficiency in audio setup and monitoring (RODECaster or similar systems)

• Familiarity with podcast production workflows and studio environments

• Detail-oriented with the ability to troubleshoot quickly under pressure

• Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with clients/talent
