Job Title: Accountant (Entry-Level)
Position Summary
The Accountant supports day-to-day accounting operations and assists in maintaining accurate financial records for ASM and its related entities. This is an entry-level role designed to provide hands-on experience and development in core accounting functions, including reconciliations, journal entries, and the month-end close process.
This position is part of a small, collaborative finance team and reports directly to the Controller. The role offers broad exposure to multiple aspects of accounting in a non-profit environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations with guidance from senior team members
- Support accounts payable and expense processing as needed
- Assist in maintaining fixed asset records and related reporting
- Track daily cash and bank activity
- Support preparation of financial reports and schedules
- Assist with annual audit preparation by gathering required documentation
- Support sales and use tax filings and 1099 reporting processes
- Participate in ad-hoc projects and process improvement initiatives as needed
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Up to 2 years of accounting experience (internships included)
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., basic formulas, data organization) and Word
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a structured and organized manner
- Ability to manage tasks independently while collaborating with a small team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrates a service-oriented mindset when supporting internal stakeholders
