About the Company
We are a technology-driven Oil & Gas optimization company that has been developing a proprietary optimization device for the upstream sector over the past three years. Having reached a key milestone in our commercialization pathway, we are now preparing to launch our first external fundraising campaign. We seek a highly motivated MBA student with strong financial acumen to support our investor relations and capital-raising efforts.
Position Overview
The MBA Intern – Investor Outreach & Fundraising Strategy will play a central role in identifying, assessing, and engaging prospective investors—including Venture Capital firms, Family Offices, Private Equity funds, strategic investors, and other capital providers relevant to the energy and industrial technology sectors.
This role requires a structured, intellectual approach to investor mapping combined with strong interpersonal skills for outreach and early-stage relationship building.
The intern will collaborate directly with company leadership and act as the liaison managing the early phases of discussions with financial partners.
Key Responsibilities
1. Investor Research & Classification
- Develop a formalized investor classification framework, grouping investors by:
- Type (VC, PE, Family Office, strategic corporate, etc.)
- Stage focus and check size
- Sector focus (Energy, Industrial Tech, etc.)
- Geographic relevance
- Build and maintain an investor pipeline database using CRM tools or spreadsheets.
- Identify decision-makers, partners, analysts, or principals within target firms.
2. Outreach Strategy & Execution
- Prepare outreach scripts, emails, and messaging tailored to each investor category.
- Conduct cold and warm outreach to introduce the company’s technology and funding goals.
- Navigate investor organizations to identify the best point of contact for follow-up discussions.
- Coordinate NDAs when necessary.
3. Preliminary Pitching & Communication
- Conduct initial calls to:
- Present the high-level investment opportunity.
- Assess investor appetite and fit.
- Address preliminary questions before involving executive leadership.
- Share company materials, pitch decks, and additional documentation as needed.
4. Meeting Coordination & Pipeline Management
- Schedule formal meetings for senior leadership with qualified investors.
- Track investor response, feedback, and stage of engagement.
- Provide weekly pipeline updates to company leadership.
- Recommend adjustments to the fundraising strategy based on stakeholder feedback.
5. Investor Materials & Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with the executive and technical teams to:
- Refine presentations, executive summaries, and financial models.
- Assist in drafting responses to investor diligence questions.
- Ensure consistent, high-quality communication across investor touchpoints.
Candidate Profile
Required Qualifications
- Current MBA student at a top U.S. business school (preferred focus on FL, TX programs, but open to all top-tier programs).
- Strong finance background; prior experience in:
- Investment banking,
- Private equity,
- Venture capital,
- Corporate finance, or
- Strategy consulting.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle outreach professionally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to the Energy, Industrial, or Oil & Gas sectors is a plus.
- Experience building investor lists, deal sourcing, or due diligence.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and professional outreach tools (e.g., Odoo, Salesforce, Zoho, LinkedIn Sales Navigator).
