Product Designer Intern

Product Designer Intern | Pear Care Remote | Summer/Fall 2026 | 12 weeks (potential extension)

What we do Pear builds cutting-edge AI infrastructure for healthcare. We're solving patient acquisition and provider discovery with systems that actually reason about medical complexity.

Pear Care is rewiring how patients and providers connect. We build intelligent healthcare infrastructure that takes the friction out of medical workflows—from analyzing patient symptoms to matching them with the right specialists and automating the scheduling process. Our systems parse, validate, and route highly complex clinical data in real-time. In healthcare, precision is non-negotiable, but we believe the experience should also be beautifully intuitive.

Our team is small. Engineers come from Google, Microsoft, and Visa. We ship weekly.

The role You will own layers of the visual and interaction surface area of what patients and providers actually touch. We need a Product Designer who can conceptualize and wireframe a seamless medical workflow, transforming complex AI processes into an intuitive, premium consumer mobile application. Accuracy matters, and UX friction is deeply felt by patients in need.

Full autonomy. Pick your design tools, establish the visual language, and define the user journey.

What you'll design

Premium Consumer Mobile Experience: Design flawless, native-feeling experiences for iOS and Android. You will establish a modern, high-end visual language that builds trust, utilizing refined elements like glass textures, tactile haptics, and deeply consistent thematic color schemes.

Creative AI Interactions: Rethink the traditional chat interface. You'll design the visual feedback loops that map a patient's unstructured typed symptoms into interactive, structured clinical cards right inside the chat feed, making streaming AI interactions feel magical and effortless.

Generative UI Concepts: Design dynamic interfaces where the AI doesn't just return text, but fully functional UI components. When a user asks for a specialist, you will design the seamless, animated injection of a provider-matching and booking component directly into the conversation stream.

Motion & Micro-Animations: You will craft fluid motion curves and tactile micro-animations that make the app feel alive and responsive, ensuring every tap, swipe, and state change feels intentional and highly polished.

Scalable Design Systems: Take ownership of our existing design system and scale it for high-complexity generative AI use cases. You'll build out comprehensive component libraries in Figma, ensuring visual consistency and preparing them for seamless handoff to our engineering team.

High-Fidelity Prototyping: Move rapidly from wireframes to highly interactive prototypes. You will define the motion design that elevates the app from standard to exceptional, testing these variations to iterate based on user behavior.

Who we're looking for

You have a portfolio of shipped, premium consumer products. Not just static Dribbble shots, but deep case studies showing how you solved complex interaction problems for real users.

You possess a relentless eye for detail and modern aesthetics. You care deeply about typography, spatial harmony, and how subtle animations entirely change the feel of a digital product.

You understand the medium. While you won't be writing the code, you know how mobile operating systems behave and design with an understanding of what makes a world-class app feel native and responsive.

Founder mindset. You find UX friction and fix it without being asked. You treat the product like your own company.

You stay current. When a new design tool, AI interaction paradigm, or prototyping feature drops, you test it that weekend to see if it gives us an edge.
