Scientific Program and Grants Lead
High-Level Description: The selected candidate will have an opportunity to gain real-world experience supporting the planning and execution of scientific programs & activities in a lean, fast-paced, high-stakes start-up biotech environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the CEO, the Scientific Program & Grants Lead (SPGL) will work collaboratively with one or more of the internal leadership team on the activities described below.
1. Program & Project Management
- Coordinate multiple early-R&D activities, including timelines, milestones, budgets, and deliverables.
- Prepare internal updates, dashboards, and reports.
- Maintain organized records of experiments, reports, and decisions.
- Prepare clear, concise written summaries and presentations.
- Help to facilitate recurring meetings, prepare for ad hoc meetings, and resolve technical or operational issues.
- Proactively identify risks/mitigations.
- Ensure alignment and communication across stakeholders.
2. Grants/Non-Dilutive Funding
Contribute to both scientific aspects and internal activities by assisting with:
- Identifying relevant funding opportunities.
- Contributing to the writing of funding proposals and facilitating internal application reviews.
3. External Partners: Vendors, Contract Research Organizations (CROs), Government, , etc.
For assigned External Partner(s), act as a bridge with internal leadership and external partners, by assisting with:
- Management of relationship(s).
- Review of proposals and budgets.
- Monitoring experimental progress, with a focus on quality, data integrity, and adherence to timelines.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- PhD-track (preferred) or MS-track, with a concentration in the Biological, Medical, or Health Sciences
Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Good understanding of experimental design and data analysis.
EXTRA-CREDIT SKILLS
- Experience working with CROs/external collaborators
- Familiarity with grant writing.
- Exposure to biotech startups, or cross-functional roles.
- Basic understanding of FDA regulatory pathways.

Time Commitment: 30 hours per week (some flexibility in schedule)
