VINternship Program
In 2020 in the face of the pandemic, several veterinary students faced cancellation of their summer plans in April and May. To help fill the gap, VIN tried something new, hiring around 30 veterinary student interns (VINterns, yes, VIN is *that* nerdy) to work remotely on a variety of projects.
This adventure has been so successful and the VINterns have been so amazing that the business, marketing, and technology arms of VIN wanted to get in on the fun. In 2025, we rolled out the first group of non-veterinary VINterns, and it was so successful, VIN staff are again eager to welcome a group for the summer of 2026. Non-veterinary VINternships are open to current students (undergraduate or graduate) in business, accounting, marketing, technology, or engineering.
This year, projects and groups needing administrative and technology VINterns include:
- Social media
- IT
- HR
- Accounting
- Product/Development/QA
- Enterprise Member Relations Team Support (This is a team that liaises with large veterinary employers -- companies with 50 or more employed veterinarians)
- Veterinary Behavior Academy
- Software engineering/computer science
- Data science
See this page for project descriptions.
Interested? Submit your application and resume/CV and cover letter via this form. Deadline for application is May 2.
Only applicants who include a cover letter with their application will be considered. (A cover letter helps us know who YOU are, not just what you’ve done.)
Start date: June 2. Orientation will be held the week of June 2. If you have a conflict, please note this in your cover letter or application.
End date: August 31 or sooner if you need. Keep your VIN supervisor(s) apprised of your schedule.
Hours per week: Minimum 10 hours, maximum of 20 hours per week. Must comply with CA labor law.
Pay: $20/hour
Requirements: Open to current students only. If you will graduate before August, 2026, you are not eligible. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire. While we’d love to take non-citizen VINterns, the paperwork involved is just too much for a short-term position.
Location: Our offices are in beautiful Davis, California. VINterns will join us in the office so they have the opportunity to interact with other VIN staff.

If you’d like a fun place to play, work, and learn this summer (and earn money doing it), please send your info via the form. If you have questions, please email nicole.carr@vin.com or christy@vin.com.
With excitement,
The VINtern Team
