Film & Communications Intern

Film & Communications Intern – Impact Campaign (Immutable)

The Matthew Harris Ornstein Memorial Foundation is seeking a highly motivated, passionate Film & Communications Intern to support the impact campaign for our latest documentary, Immutable. The film has been garnering strong reviews and national press attention, including coverage in The New York Times.

We have launched a two-year national screening campaign to highlight the transformative work of urban debate leagues, support their sustainability, and elevate the importance of civil discourse in the lead-up to upcoming U.S. elections.

This intern will work 10–15 hours per week alongside the Director of Programming and Communications, helping expand our reach across schools and educational institutions nationwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct outreach to schools, universities, and educational organizations to coordinate screenings
  • Support communication with national partners and urban debate leagues
  • Assist with drafting outreach emails, social media content, and campaign materials
  • Track outreach progress, partnerships, and event confirmations
  • Provide general administrative and logistical support for screening events
  • Research potential partner organizations and funding opportunities

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in documentary film, social impact, education, and/or civic engagement
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter who can manage tasks independently and meet deadlines
  • Comfortable with outreach and relationship-building
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets) and basic social media platforms

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate
  • Availability of 10–15 hours per week
  • Ability to work remotely and attend periodic virtual meetings
  • Prior internship or relevant experience in communications, film, education, or nonprofits is a plus but not required

About the Campaign:
With fewer than 20 urban debate leagues remaining nationwide, this is a critical moment to elevate their impact. These programs have a proven track record of helping students access college and scholarships. Through screenings of Immutable, we aim to bring together the broader educational community and spark meaningful dialogue and engagement.
