Digital Fundraising & Engagement Coordinator

 

Development - Roxbury, Massachusetts (Hybrid)

826 Boston seeks a dynamic, communicative, and flexible individual to serve as the Digital Fundraising & Engagement Coordinator. We are seeking a candidate to support the organization’s individual giving program by implementing digital fundraising campaigns, donor communications, and social media engagement. This role helps grow and retain 826 Boston’s base of supporters to power free youth writing programs for students in Boston.

 

Working closely with the Development and Communications team, the coordinator will have the unique opportunity to share the stories of 826 Boston students and the impact of 826 Boston’s programs in new and innovative ways. This new position is ideal for someone who is organized, collaborative, and excited about using digital tools to build meaningful relationships with supporters. The role reports to the Development and Events Manager. 

 

Mission 
826 Boston is a nonprofit writing, tutoring, and publishing organization where students in grades K-12 and beyond can share their stories, amplify their voices, and develop as leaders in school and in life.

 

Responsibilities
The Digital Fundraising & Engagement Coordinator will work 40 hours per week. Regular in-person hours are required. Applicants must reside in Massachusetts before the role starts and be able to commute to the in-person location listed below  
 

  • In-Person Hours: Tuesday and Thursday, 9 AM - 5 PM with potential flexibility on start and end time if needed
  • In-Person Location: 1865 Columbus Ave., Roxbury, MA 02119
  • Most Fridays are virtual for the full organization and often require all-team meetings, professional development, and tasks
    • Occasional departmental and organizational meetings will take place on Fridays in person at our Tutoring Center located at 3035 Washington Street, Roxbury, MA 02119

 

Donor Engagement & Stewardship
 

  • Track donor retention trends by running reports and maintaining a dashboard to support donor renewal campaigns and strategy
    Maintain 826 Boston's engagement strategy using best practices such as email welcome series and customized outreach plans to encourage a deeper affinity with 826 Boston
  • Write and design digital assets for peer-to-peer fundraisers participating in 826 Boston’s Half Half Half Half Half Marathon 
    Coordinate outreach and communications for the organization’s monthly giving program, focusing on retaining existing donors and increasing the overall monthly giving among 826 Boston’s donor base
    Coordinate Do It Yourself (DIY) fundraising initiatives and provide support to individuals or teams who raise funds on behalf of the organization

 

Digital Fundraising & Campaign Execution

  • Implement quarterly fundraising appeals, including helping to write and send the organization’s whimsical and creative annual appeal
  • Manage campaign calendars and ensure timely delivery of digital fundraising communications
  • Monitor campaign performance and deliver detailed reports that lead to improvements and innovations for future campaigns

 

Social Media & Digital Engagement

  • In collaboration with the Communications Director, support social media efforts that help tell the story of 826 Boston
  • Coordinate social media content related to fundraising initiatives

 

Donor Data & Research

  • Conduct wealth screenings and prospect research to help identify potential major donor prospects
  • Assist with donor segmentation to support targeted outreach

 

Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a team player with a steadfast commitment to improving the quality of K-12 education, including adopting antiracist/anti-oppressive approaches, with a desire to work in a collaborative and inclusive culture, and a passion for youth empowerment through writing and publishing.

 

826 Boston recognizes that impostor syndrome and the confidence gap might prevent some applicants from applying. Few candidates will have all of the relevant experience listed below, but 826 Boston is committed to assessing candidates with transferable skills and a willingness to be trained for this role.

 

Skills and Experiences

  • 2+ years of experience in fundraising, nonprofit communications, marketing, or a related field (internships included)
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent written communication skills and confidence in being a final proofreader on external materials
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with digital fundraising tools and email marketing platforms
  • Familiarity with the primary social media platforms that 826 Boston uses, including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
  • Experience working with CRM databases is a plus, particularly with Salesforce
  • Enthusiastic belief in the mission of 826 Boston and a passion for writing 

 

Salary and Benefits 

826 Boston offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position, with the potential for an annual performance-based bonus. The salary for this position is $50,000 annually. 

 

We offer competitive salaries and benefits and are committed to equity, trust, and transparency in compensation. Basing compensation on someone’s ability to negotiate or their prior salary can lead to inequities and bias in how people are paid, particularly for groups experiencing historical oppression. Therefore, we do not ask for prior pay history from our candidates, and our offer-making process is negotiation-free for salaries and benefits. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary based on internal equity and the budgeted amount for the role. 


 

Benefits include flexible work from home options, generous paid time off (including 15 PTO days, 5 days of sick leave, 13 paid holidays, 6 summer Fridays off, and an organization-wide two-week winter break); health, dental, and vision insurance (826 Boston covers 80% of premiums), parental leave, paid sabbatical, and more.

 

This is an exempt, full-time position that reports to the Development and Events Manager. The ideal start date for this position is August 10, 2026.
