Restaurant Operations Hospitality Intern (Summer Program)

Reports To: COO/HR Director/General Manager
Position Summary:
The Restaurant Operations Hospitality Intern is a structured summer development role focused on building future leaders in hospitality. This position combines hands-on restaurant experience with guided exposure to the core functions that drive a successful guest experience, including operations, service, culinary execution, training, and marketing.
Interns will work alongside restaurant teams during live service while also shadowing leaders across departments. The goal is to develop a well-rounded understanding of both the operational and human elements of the business.
While not a guaranteed path to management, this program is designed to identify and develop high-potential individuals for future opportunities within the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support daily restaurant operations through hands-on work in both front-of-house and back-of-house roles
- Deliver meaningful guest interactions and contribute to a consistent, high-quality hospitality experience
- Shadow department leaders across Operations, Guest Service, Culinary, Training, and Marketing
- Assist with shift execution, including pre-shift meetings, team communication, and floor presence
- Observe and support standards related to food quality, cleanliness, and overall guest experience
- Participate in structured learning sessions and leadership discussions
- Assist with projects that support restaurant operations, team development, or guest engagement
- Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and a team-first mindset throughout the program
Program Structure (Summer Internship):
- Rotational exposure across key areas of the restaurant and company
- Balance of hands-on shifts and scheduled shadowing experiences
- Ongoing coaching and feedback from restaurant leadership
- Final capstone project and presentation to leadership
Capstone Project:
Each intern will complete a final project centered on improving an aspect of the guest or team experience. Areas of focus may include:
- Elevating the guest experience
- Improving operational flow or efficiency
- Supporting team engagement or training
- Contributing to local marketing or in-store initiatives
Interns will present their project, recommendations, and expected impact to members of the leadership team at the conclusion of the program.
Learning Outcomes:
- Understanding restaurant operations through a hospitality-first lens
- Exposure to leadership decision-making and shift execution
- Development of communication, observation, and problem-solving skills
- Introduction to key business drivers including sales, labor, and guest metrics
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in college or interested in pursuing a career in hospitality or business
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
- Ability to commit to the full summer internship program
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
- Comfortable working in a high-energy restaurant environment
