Administrative Intern I - PROJECT MANAGEMENT OFFICE (Operations)

About the Position

We’re excited to launch the Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner’s Internship Program and are looking for motivated college students and recent graduates who are interested in project management, public administration, business operations, or government work to join the Project Management Office (PMO) within the Operations Division.

As an Administrative Intern I, you’ll support a newly established Project Management Office that is focused on improving how projects are planned, coordinated, and delivered across the agency. This is a great opportunity to learn how project management and organizational processes are developed and applied in a real-world public sector setting.

The PMO is in its early stages and is currently focused on building its foundation. This includes understanding how work is managed across the agency, identifying opportunities to improve consistency and coordination, and developing tools and processes to support project tracking and delivery.

In this role, you may:
 • Help track project tasks, timelines, and deliverables across multiple initiatives
 • Assist with scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and documenting meeting notes and action items
 • Organize and maintain project documentation, trackers, and shared files (e.g., SharePoint)
 • Support the development and updates of process documentation, such as SOPs, checklists, and workflows
 • Assist with compiling information to support PMO planning and reporting activities

You may also gain exposure to how a new Project Management Office is built within a government agency, including how projects are identified, organized, and supported across different teams.

This internship is a great starting point if you’re interested in careers in project management, public administration, business operations, policy work, or public service.

This recruitment may be used to establish a qualified pool of candidates for Administrative Intern I vacancies in the next sixty days.

This is a non-perm/ temporary position lasting 12 weeks, with an expected schedule of 20-25 hours per week.

This is a Washington General Service position. The hourly range for this position is $20.09.
