Quality Assurance Supervisor, Dairy  

Job brief
We are seeking a hands-on and driven Bilingual Quality Assurance Dairy Supervisor to oversee the daily activities of the Quality Assurance Department within our Grade A milk and cheese production operations. This role is responsible for ensuring that all departmental processes and finished products meet internal standards and external regulatory requirements, including USDA/PMO regulations, customer specifications, company policies, and BRC standards. The position serves as the Lead Auditor and FSMA Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI), playing a key role in maintaining and improving food safety and quality systems. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in process control monitoring, food manufacturing, sanitation practices, and auditing, along with a solid understanding of HACCP, SSOP, and FSMA requirements. This individual will lead and support the QA team, drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts, and collaborate effectively with QA leadership, plant teams, regional and corporate management, and suppliers. Additional duties and projects may be assigned as needed.

Supervision
Directly supervises supervisors, leads, and line technicians, with indirect oversight of technical support and sanitation personnel.

 

Responsibilities

Must be familiar with the Quality System requirements of the plant.

Reviews processing activities to ensure conformance to specifications.

Assures that products are being produced in conformance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s Part 110.0;117.0) and PMO (Pasteurized Milk Ordinance) and Cheese.

Responsible coordinating of the Food Safety Plan.

Investigates and communicate to the Q.A manager all food safety issues.

Supervises the daily activities of QA team.

Responsible on assigning expectations and responsibilities to the QA team.

Responsible for assessing the training needs of Supervisor and technicians, making sure that training is adequately performed and documented.

Ensures that a safe work environment exists in the department and that safety meetings are conducted and documented.

Reviews and update work aids (instructions, charts, manuals, bulletins, code date calendars, etc.) essential for verification of product quality.

Monitors QA teams’ adherence to department’s policies, procedures and work instructions.

Assists in resolving quality related issues throughout the plant.

Participates in safety and sanitation audits.

Verifies labor hours and payroll report for accuracy.

Resolves team conflicts and if necessary, issue disciplinary actions.

Conducts monthly team meetings to address employee issues.

Maintains the absence/tardiness records of the technicians and record incidents.

Collects and interprets data needed to continuously improve production processes and product quality.

Verifies that department’s standard operating procedures complies with BRC requirements.

Assists in special projects and generates summary of projects’ performance.

Coordinates Mock Recall teams and assists in successfully completing mock recalls. 

 

Requirements and skills

Bilingual (Spanish-English) Required. 

Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry or related science required.

Knowledge of statistics preferred.

Courses in Quality Assurance concepts desirable.

Knowledge of GFSI - BRC preferred.

5 years’ experience in food manufacturing. Preferred in cheese Industry.

2 to 3 years working experience in a Dairy (Milk and Cheese products) or food plant. 

1 year in a supervisory position preferred.

Must have good communication skills.
