Duties:
• Responsible for operation of juvenile fish transportation facilities and/or barges.
• Collect and maintain data associated with the juvenile fish transportation program.
• Provide detailed reports to Supervisor on facility or barge operations on a regular basis.
• Responsible for collecting fish, loading raceways and barge holds, and for determining fish numbers, loading densities, and overall fish behavior and condition.
• Make recommendations concerning facility and/or barge operations and equipment to improve overall operation.
• Responsible for ensuring fish facilities and/or barges are operated within fish passage criteria.
• Coordinate with and/or assist researchers working on fish facilities or barges.

 

GS-5 Requirements

Experience: One year at the GS-04 level focused on scientific data collection, biological sampling, and operating animal transport or counting equipment.

OR

Education: A four-year Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Statistics, or Agriculture).

OR

Combination: A mix of experience and education (beyond the first 60 semester hours) that totals 100% of the requirement.

 

GS-6 Requirements

Experience: One year at the GS-05 level involving scientific data collection and the operation of electronic animal counters, valves, or pneumatic gates.

OR

Education: 9 graduate semester hours in a field directly related to the position.

OR

Combination: A mix of experience and graduate-level education that totals 100% of the requirement.

 

Other Conditions and Requirements:

• Appointment may be subject to suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 30 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
• This position requires that the incumbent possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
• Hiring incentives such as a recruitment/relocation bonus, service credit for leave, and student loan repayment may be authorized (subject to available budget).
• Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.
• This is a full-time SEASONAL position with rotating shifts; duty time is approximately March through November.
• This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
• Incumbent may be scheduled for rotating shift work.
• Management may select at any of the grade levels announced.
• Noncompetitive promotion potential to target grade.
• This position is eligible for situational telework only.
