This is an exciting opportunity to guide a mission-driven nature center, connect people with the environment, and oversee programs that make a lasting impact on the community.
As the Nature Center Manager II, you will:
- Direct and supervise the daily operations of Daggerwing Nature Center and its boardwalk.
- Plan, develop, and evaluate environmental education and outdoor recreation programs.
- Manage the Nature Center’s budget and administrative operations.
- Maintain strong public relations and represent the Nature Center to schools, partners, and environmental agencies.
- Oversee exhibits, animal husbandry, and facility maintenance.
- Coordinate community engagement initiatives.
- Lead staff and volunteers in delivering high-quality visitor experiences.

QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires qualified applicants to possess one of the following:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Sciences, Zoology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field; minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in a nature center or similar facility,
OR
- An unrelated Bachelor’s Degree; minimum of four (4) years of professional experience in a nature center or similar facility,
OR
- An Associate’s Degree; minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in a nature center or similar facility,
OR
- Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in a nature center or similar facility.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT(S)
The selected candidate for this position MUST:
- Obtain a First Aid/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certification within six (6) months of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience developing and teaching science, environmental education, or outdoor recreational programs,
- Experience working with advisory boards, steering committees, or non-profit organizations,
- Experience handling and caring for native and/or exotic wildlife, and
- Experience supervising, coordinating, and delegating to staff/volunteers.
