Job Title: Summer Internship – Legal-Compliance

Position Type: Internship (40 hr/week); Non-Exempt 
Position Location:  This is a hybrid position based at our Overland Park, KS campus. 

Duration of Internship: 10-12 weeks

Job Description


Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Research federal financial regulations such as FDCPA, FCRA, TILA, TCPA, EFTA, and UDAAP.
  • Assist in monitoring regulatory updates and drafting compliance summaries for internal stakeholders.
  • Support risk assessments, policy reviews, and control testing efforts across our lending and servicing operations.
  • Participate in vendor due diligence and third-party risk management activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (legal, operations, and product compliance) to ensure adherence to consumer protection standards.
  • Help develop and refine compliance documentation, including procedures, training materials, and audit checklists.
  • Contribute to root-cause analysis and remediation tracking for consumer complaints and compliance issues.

     

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree (or coursework toward) in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Legal Studies, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in financial services, fintech, or consumer protection.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and basic data organization tools (Excel, Google Sheets).
  • Ability to handle confidential information and work independently with attention to detail.

 

 

Preferred Attributes:

 

  • Previous internship or experience in financial services, banking, or regulatory environments.
  • Course experience in business law, compliance, finance, or risk management.
  • Familiarity with emerging fintech trends and data privacy concepts.

 

 

Work Environment: 

 

  • This position operates in a hybrid work environment, with a combination of in-office and remote work.
  • Must have a suitable home workspace free from noise and distractions to maintain professional communication during calls.
  • Reliable internet connection capable of supporting video calls, voice communication, and system access without interruption.
  • The role requires the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate across both in-person and virtual settings.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working at a computer or desk.
  • Ability to perform light physical activity such as reaching or adjusting equipment as needed within the workspace.
  • Must be able to lift and move items weighing up to 20 pounds, such as computer equipment or office supplies.

 

Schedule

This is a 40 hour per week internship, hybrid position requiring three (3) days per week onsite at the Overland Park campus (Tuesday through Thursday) and two (2) days per week working remotely (Monday and Friday). Specific in-office days and schedule may be subject to change based on business needs.

Compensation Range

The salary for this position is $20 per hour. Final compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
