Communications Intern
Position Summary
The PTS Communications Intern is a multifaceted student position responsible for supporting operations, managing digital and social media presence, engaging the campus and local community, and creating digital and graphic design assets. This role supports the Communications Specialist through event coordination, outreach initiatives, content creation, and administrative support while helping strengthen PTS’s brand, visibility, and relationships.
Responsibilities
Operations & Administrative Support (35%)
- Support the Communications Specialist with event planning and execution
- Assist with logistics, including inventory tracking and supply organization
- Help coordinate with vendors and external partners to ensure materials are delivered on time
- Conduct basic research and data gathering to support operational improvements
- Provide general administrative support to the department as needed
Digital Media, Social Media & Graphic Design (25%)
- Assist with the department’s presence across social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter), and TikTok.
- Support the planning and execution of social media campaigns aligned with PTS communication efforts.
- Help create engaging digital and graphic design content, including social media graphics, flyers, digital signage, presentations, and basic video content.
- Collaborate with internal staff to design visuals that support events, campaigns, and outreach initiatives
- Monitor platform trends, algorithm changes, and audience engagement, adjusting strategies as needed.
- Assist with tracking and reporting on social media performance metrics and insights
Community Engagement & Outreach (25%)
- Assist with researching the needs and interests of the LSU and surrounding community
- Support outreach initiatives by helping develop ideas to engage students, faculty, staff, and community partners
- Help build and maintain relationships with campus organizations, student groups, and community stakeholders
- Assist with organizing and supporting outreach events, tabling efforts, workshops, and engagement activities
- Help assess the effectiveness of outreach efforts and contribute feedback for improvement
General Duties (15%)
- Assist with maintaining positive engagement with the PTS community both online and in person
- Provide feedback and ideas to support continuous improvement
- Perform other duties as assigned
