Audio Reading Intern
The Allen County Public Library's Audio Reading Service (ARS) is seeking a Summer Intern enrolled in a bachelor's degree program at any accredited college or university over the summer semester. This on-site internship runs May 18 - August 14 and offers hands-on experience in media operations, volunteer coordination, and accessible audio production and broadcasting.
ARS is a department of ACPL that provides audio access to printed news and information for individuals who have difficulty reading traditional print, including people with visual impairments and other disabilities. More than 100 volunteers read and record content that is broadcast via radio, television, online streaming, and podcasts to listeners throughout the community.
As an ARS Intern, you'll support day-to-day operations, assist with coordinating volunteers, and help produce and organize accessible audio content. This role blends administrative tasks with behind-the-scenes exposure to broadcasting and accessibility-focused media work.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program (required)
Available May 18 - August 14
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic office tasks (data entry, filing, email)
Strong communication skills and attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers
