Marketing Intern

THIS INTERNSHIP IS LOCATED ON-SITE IN JOHNSTOWN, PA

CJL Engineering is a full-service, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) Engineering firm with 6 regional offices.  For over 85+ years, our engineers have been responsible for designing MEP systems for healthcare, higher-education, central plant, K-12, corporate, government, data centers and LEED projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

We are seeking a motivated and creative Marketing Intern to support our marketing and business development efforts, with a focus on proposal development, content creation, and day-to-day marketing operations. This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate interested in gaining hands-on experience in a professional services environment, particularly within the engineering industry.

 

The Marketing Intern will assist with content creation, graphic design, and day-to-day marketing initiatives, while gaining exposure to how marketing supports project pursuits and firm growth.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the creation and editing of marketing materials, including proposals, qualifications packages, brochures, and presentations
  • Support business development efforts, including research, opportunity tracking, and preparation of pursuit materials
  • Provide administrative support to the marketing team, including organizing files, maintaining project information, and updating marketing databases
  • Help maintain and update project sheets, resumes, and marketing collateral
  • Collaborate with technical staff to translate engineering concepts into clear, professional content
  • Assist with website updates as needed
  • Support event coordination, internal communications, and branding initiatives
  • Contribute to social media efforts (primarily LinkedIn), including content creation, scheduling, and basic performance tracking
  • Develop basic graphics and layouts using Adobe InDesign and Canva
  • Conduct light research on industry trends, competitors, and potential clients

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field 
  • Basic working knowledge of Adobe InDesign required (Photoshop and Illustrator a plus) 
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, especially LinkedIn 
  • Interest in architecture, engineering, or construction (AEC) industry is a plus 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); Canva experience is a plus 
  • Must be detail oriented and quality driven.
  • Must have strong communication (written & verbal), interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and execute multiple assignments simultaneously.
