Upper School Learning Specialist

University School seeks an Upper School Learning Specialist for the 2026-2027 school year. Ideal candidates will have advanced degree(s) in their fields; firsthand experience in working with students with learning differences; an interest in and capacity for coordinated work with adolescents, families, and colleagues within the School, as well as professionals outside the School; and an ability to contribute to the larger life of the School. 

Regular areas of responsibility include: 

• Demonstrating deep knowledge of learning differences and student accommodations. 

• Reviewing student neuropsychological evaluations and drafting student Learning Plans. 

• Collaborating with Upper School Director, Dean of Students, and Professional Counselor to coordinate and implement accommodations in student Learning Plans. 

• Providing strategy-based academic support in one-to-one or small-group settings with students who have documented learning differences, including executive functioning skills, writing, reading comprehension, test-taking skills and problem solving. 

• Supporting classroom teachers in their work with all students, including those with documented learning differences by creating, coordinating and implementing strategies in the classroom to manage and support boys with a variety of learning differences. 

• Demonstrating knowledge of and helping students and their families through the process by which they may obtain accommodations for standardized testing, undergraduate institutions, and other educational organizations. 

• Contributing to our character and leadership curriculum. 

• As a member of the Upper School Faculty, serving as a sponsor to a small group of students.  

• As a member of the Upper School Faculty, participating in the extra-/co-curricular life of the University School Community outside of the classroom. 

• Serving in other duties as assigned by the Upper School Director or Head of School.
