Hours: 25–40 hours per week
Compensation: Paid internship and/or academic credit, depending on funding and university program structure
Organization Description
The Capital Area Urban League (CAUL) is a community-based organization focused on advancing economic empowerment through housing, workforce development, education, and community engagement.
The Capital Region Realtist of New York (CRRNY) is a local professional real estate trade organization affiliated with the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB). CRRNY is committed to expanding homeownership, promoting wealth-building through real estate, and supporting equitable housing opportunities throughout the Capital Region.
Bethea Realty, a locally owned Albany-based brokerage, serves as an industry partner supporting practical real estate exposure, housing market awareness, and community revitalization efforts.
Together, these organizations are creating student internship opportunities that provide practical experience in communications, digital marketing, outreach, and community-centered housing initiatives.
Position Summary
The Digital Marketing & Community Outreach Intern will support digital communications, public engagement, and marketing initiatives related to housing, homeownership education, workforce development, and community advancement. This internship is designed for students interested in applying digital marketing and communications skills in a mission-driven environment with real community impact.
The intern will assist with social media strategy, content creation, event promotion, audience engagement, website and newsletter support, and digital campaign analysis. The position offers hands-on experience working across nonprofit, trade association, and real estate-related initiatives.
Responsibilities
The intern’s responsibilities may include:
- Assist in developing and implementing social media and digital outreach campaigns
- Create written and visual content for social media, newsletters, flyers, announcements, and community promotions
- Support digital campaigns related to homeownership education, wealth-building, housing access, and workforce development
- Assist with website content updates and email communications
- Help promote workshops, public events, internship opportunities, and community engagement initiatives
- Monitor social media and digital engagement metrics and help prepare summary reports
- Support brand consistency across communications and outreach materials
- Assist with storytelling, audience engagement, and program visibility efforts
- Contribute to event promotion and communications planning for community-based initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates should demonstrate interest and/or experience in several of the following areas:
- Social media strategy and campaign development
- Content creation and digital storytelling
- Graphic design using Canva or similar tools
- Writing, editing, and proofreading
- Event promotion and audience engagement
- Email newsletter support and website content management
- Communications strategy for mission-driven, nonprofit, or community-based initiatives
- Basic understanding of engagement analytics and campaign performance
Minimum Qualifications
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s program required
- Master’s students preferred
- PhD students welcome with relevant experience or interest
- Coursework or demonstrated experience in marketing, communications, business, public relations, digital media, or related fields
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace
- Familiarity with major social media platforms in a professional or organizational context

- Interest in housing, workforce development, real estate, nonprofit leadership, or community engagement
- Ability to organize projects, manage deadlines, and contribute to multiple initiatives simultaneously

Work Schedule and Environment
