This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.
DEPARTMENT: Anchorage Police Department
HOURS OF WORK: 4-11's unpaid lunch SSM or FSS off

Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.

The actual salary for this position may be eligible for a ten percent (10%) incentive due to a Supervisory Compensation Adjustment. This is to ensure that supervisors are fairly compensated in comparison to those persons they supervise. The Adjustment may be discontinued at any time, if the Mayor determines the adjustment is no longer warranted.
Example of Duties
Under the general direction of the Administration Division Commander, responsible for the management and supervision of the Payroll/Personnel Department, Impounds Department, APD evidence vehicle facilities, and APD Police Fleet Vehicle Program. Act as the liaison between the HumanResources Department, utilizing the MOA hiring database to create and maintain APD job requisitions to include hiring of candidates; maintain and develop APD position descriptions, and oversee the APD basic selection processes. Perform research to improve the efficiency of the selection processes, facilitation, reporting, and documentation. Responsible for timecard management and approvals in SAP, KABA, and Telestaff. Provide a full range of supervision for subordinate personnel. Responsible for the management of the 550+ APD Police Vehicle program. Responsible for Department compliance to operate and maintain underground fuel storage tanks in accordance with Title 18 Alaska Administrative Code (AAC) 78. Develop and implement impound contracts, attend, and participate in bid conferences and appeal hearings. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and eight (8) years of experience in the field related to the position.
OR
Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, Purchasing, Computer Information Systems, Finance, or similar discipline, and six (6) years of experience in the field related to the position.
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, Purchasing, Computer Information Systems, Finance, or similar discipline, and four (4) years of experience in the field related to the position.
OR
Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, Purchasing, Computer Information Systems, Finance, or similar discipline, and two (2) years of experience in the field related to the position.
Must possess and/or obtain:
Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License and satisfactory Driving Record at time of hire.
Satisfactory Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check by time of hire.
Preference:
Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN) / National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification.
Class A/B Underground Storage Tank (UST) operator certification for underground fuel tanks on site.
