Internship in Association Management

Capitol Hill Management Services (CHMS) offers internship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students interested in Association and Nonprofit Management. Interns gain real-world experience in areas such as member engagement, event planning, communications, advocacy, and more — while working alongside experts in a nationally accredited firm.

Internship Types

CHMS will accept college students for the following internship types:

  •  Paid Internship – $15.00/hour. Intern will complete required paperwork and keep a timesheet through the experience.
  • Internship for Credit – Intern must provide the specific requirements of their school. Documentation will be provided for those whose internships carry credit hours toward the completion of a degree as per the institution’s requirements.

What You'll Learn

As a CHMS intern, you’ll be immersed in real-world work that builds your skills and expands your understanding of how nonprofit organizations operate and succeed. Internships are available in the following departments:

  • Association Management
  • Conference & Meeting Planning
  • Accounting
  • Marketing & Communications

You’ll work alongside professionals in these areas and gain exposure to a variety of essential functions, including:

  • Communications & Marketing​
  • Membership Support, Engagement, and Services
  • Leadership and governance
  • Event planning
  • Advocacy
  • Data and Technology
  • Budgeting and Finances

You’ll also participate in training and development programs focused on best practices, business skills, networking, and industry knowledge — all designed to enrich your personal and professional growth.

Engage and Network

CHMS hosts meetings and events with our client associations, offering opportunities to interact with staff, client leaders, members, and fellow interns.
