Marketing and Content Creation Intern

Marketing and Content Creation Internship (Part-Time)

 

Location: Legacy Center Office – 4001 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Pkwy, Suite 102, KCMO
Travel: Occasional visits to Club locations across the Kansas City metro area (travel mileage paid)

Reports To: Senior Director of Marketing, Communications, and Public Relations

 

School Year: 

Hours: Up to 20 hours per week (flexible around your class schedule)

Stipend: $1,600 per semester plus mileage

 

Summer:

Hours: Approximately 30 hours per week
Stipend: $1,500 for the 9-week summer session plus mileage

 

About Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City

For more than 110 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City has helped young people grow into confident, capable leaders. Our Clubs provide safe places where youth can build friendships, explore new interests, and gain skills that prepare them for the future.

 

Our mission is to promote the development of self-esteem, values, and skills for boys and girls, ages 5–18, with special emphasis on youth from disadvantaged circumstances. Through high-quality programs and caring mentorship, we help young people realize their full potential. 

 

About the Internship

If you enjoy social media, storytelling, and creating content, this internship offers the chance to gain real-world marketing experience while supporting a mission-driven organization.

As a Marketing & Content Creation Intern, you’ll help capture and share the stories happening every day at our Clubs — from youth programs and sports leagues to community events. Your work will help highlight how the Clubs are helping young people across Kansas City build great futures.

 

This role is ideal for students interested in marketing, communications, public relations, digital media, or social media management.

 

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation

  • Create social media content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and TikTok
  • Write captions and assist with storytelling that highlights Club programs and youth achievements
  • Capture photos and short videos at Club locations, field trips, athletic events, and special activities
  • Assist with creating graphics or short-form videos for digital platforms

 

Marketing Support

  • Help promote events, programs, partnerships, and membership outreach
  • Assist with brainstorming ideas for marketing campaigns and social content
  • Support brand consistency across marketing materials

 

Analytics Support

  • Track social media engagement and basic performance metrics
  • Help identify content that performs well and suggest improvements

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Majoring in Marketing, Communications, PR, Digital Media, or a related field (or strong interest in these areas)
  • Active on social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn
  • Creative, organized, and eager to learn
  • Comfortable interacting with youth in program environments
  • Able to follow brand guidelines and complete assigned tasks independently

 

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a background check

 

Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Canva or Adobe design tools
  • Basic video editing (CapCut, Premiere, TikTok editor, etc.)
  • Photography or videography experience
  • Social media copywriting
  • Experience managing social media for a campus organization, club, or small business
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics or social media insights

A Day in the Life of a Marketing Intern

No two days look exactly the same, but here’s an example of what your week might include:

  • Visiting a Club location to capture photos or short videos of youth programs, sports leagues, or special activities
  • Drafting social media captions and helping schedule posts for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok
  • Brainstorming creative ideas for upcoming campaigns, events, or youth program spotlights
  • Helping the marketing team review social media engagement and identify what content is performing well
  • Creating simple graphics or short-form video clips for social media
  • Supporting promotion of Club events, community partnerships, and fundraising initiatives
