Development & Grants Research Intern

(Fundraising + Partnerships + Grant Support Role)

Purpose

To strengthen WEEE’s long-term sustainability by supporting grant research, donor engagement, and resource development efforts. This role will assist in identifying funding opportunities, cultivating partnerships, and supporting the Executive Director in grant writing and development strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Grant Research & Prospecting

  • Research and identify new grant opportunities aligned with WEEE’s mission and programs 
  • Track deadlines, eligibility requirements, and funding priorities 
  • Maintain and update a grant pipeline and funding calendar 
  • Conduct prospect research on foundations, corporations, and public funding sources  

Grant Writing & Proposal Support

  • Support the Executive Director in drafting and editing grant proposals 
  • Assist in developing proposal narratives, budgets, and supporting materials 
  • Compile organizational data, outcomes, and program descriptions for submissions 
  • Help prepare reports and follow-up materials for funders 

 Sponsorship & Partnership Development

  • Research corporate sponsorship opportunities and community partnerships 
  • Assist in developing sponsorship materials and outreach strategies 
  • Support relationship-building efforts with potential partners and funders 

Donor Relations & Communications

  • Assist in maintaining donor and funder records 
  • Support donor communications, acknowledgments, and stewardship activities 
  • Help develop content for newsletters, impact updates, and fundraising campaigns 

Development Systems & Strategy

  • Support tracking of funding outcomes and reporting metrics 
  • Assist in organizing development materials and templates 
  • Contribute to strengthening WEEE’s overall fundraising strategy 

Preferred Background

  • Graduate student in Nonprofit Management, Public Policy, Communications, Business, or related field 
  • Strong writing, research, and organizational skills 
  • Interest in fundraising, philanthropy, and community-based work 
  • Ability to synthesize information and communicate clearly
