Vocational Job Coach

Job Title: Vocational Job Coach – Adult Day & Employment Services

Location:

The Arc of Litchfield County – Torrington, Connecticut

Position Summary:

The Vocational Job Coach provides employment and vocational support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in accordance with Connecticut Department of Developmental Services (DDS) service definitions.

This position delivers services under both Individual Supported Employment (ISE) and Group Supported Employment (GSE) models. Supports are provided in integrated community settings as well as in small group or enclave-based work environments. The Job Coach uses a person-centered approach to assist individuals in achieving competitive, integrated employment and increasing independence in Group supported employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Individual Supported Employment (ISE) services including 1:1 job coaching
  • Provide Group Supported Employment (GSE) services including group supervision and job coaching.
  • Deliver supports aligned with Individual Plans (IP)
  • Use task analysis, prompting, and positive behavioral supports
  • Support development of soft skills and independence
  • Assist transition from GSE to ISE when appropriate
  • Maintain documentation in compliance with DDS standards
  • Communicate with team members and stakeholders
  • Promote community inclusion 
  • Transport individuals as needed to and from home and worksites

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience with individuals with disabilities preferred
  • Knowledge of DDS employment services preferred
  • Flexibility and willingness to work across multiple sites and/or programs, adjusting schedules as program needs require
  • Must hold a current Connecticut driver’s license, maintain a clean driving record, and have reliable transportation

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

Candidates must be able to:

• Communicate clearly through speaking and hearing to provide instruction, share

information, and collaborate with individuals served, coworkers, and community partners

• Use basic computer and writing skills to complete documentation and program records

• Alternate between sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods

• Bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, and reach as needed to support individuals, perform job

tasks, or respond to emergencies

• Use fine and gross motor skills with both hands for tasks such as job coaching, handling

materials, and providing physical assistance when required

• Climb stairs and ramps and navigate varied indoor and outdoor environments

• Drive a vehicle safely and operate foot and hand controls as needed

• Push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds, with occasional lifting of greater weight as

required by the role
