Licensed Veterinary Technician

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic veterinary team. In this vital role, you will provide high-quality animal care, assist veterinarians with medical procedures, and ensure a comfortable and safe environment for our animal patients. Your expertise will help deliver exceptional pet care services, support veterinary diagnostics, and promote animal well-being through compassionate handling and technical proficiency. Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations and diagnostic procedures with precision and care.
  • Perform animal restraint and handling using humane techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff.
  • Conduct laboratory tests, prepare samples, and operate diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines to aid in accurate diagnosis.
  • Maintain aseptic techniques during surgical procedures and when handling infectious materials to prevent contamination.
  • Manage pet grooming, pet care, and animal husbandry tasks to promote overall health and comfort.
  • Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology, assisting with cleaning, polishing, and oral examinations.
  • Handle animal catheterization, IV placement, and other critical care procedures with confidence and professionalism.
  • Maintain detailed medical records, update patient files accurately, and communicate treatment plans effectively.
  • Operate laboratory equipment for testing bloodwork or other diagnostics as needed for comprehensive patient assessment.

Experience

  • Previous veterinary technician experience or equivalent certification required; licensed status must be current.
  • Kennel experience preferred for effective animal handling in various settings.
  • Familiarity with veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy knowledge, and veterinary critical care practices is essential.
  • Experience with laboratory procedures including sample collection and analysis is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in X-ray operation, animal restraint techniques, and aseptic procedures is advantageous.
