Interpreter Part-Time

Interpreter: Part-Time (Non-Exempt)

Rate: $13.00 per hour

Pay Grade: PT | Starting salary based on prior experience and education.

Location: Lake Metroparks, Farmpark, Kirtland, Ohio 44094

Position Description: Under the direction of the Interpretive Education Manager, the Interpreter delivers engaging, accurate, and welcoming interpretive programs for visitors, school groups, and tour groups at Lake Metroparks Farmpark.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Present interpretive demonstrations and provide engaging informal educational experiences focused on plants, animals, farming, and agricultural practices. 
• Deliver structured educational programs and guided tours for school groups and general visitors. 
• Assist with the care of animals, interpretive equipment, and facilities to ensure safety, cleanliness, and proper operation. 
• Support the development and delivery of special events and seasonal programming. 
• Assist with volunteer support and training related to assigned programs and activities. 
• Communicate safety concerns, equipment needs, maintenance issues, or visitor concerns to appropriate staff in a timely manner. 
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support Farmpark operations and visitor services.

Minimum Qualifications: 

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in education, agriculture, or a park setting preferred.
• Previous interpretive or educational experience preferred; must possess strong communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license required and ability to meet insurability standards.

Position Requirements: 

• Ability to work up to 28 hours per week including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a strong public‑service focus.
