Water Resource Engineer Intern

Job Title:                  Water Resource Engineer Intern 

Type:                        Temporary (LTD) Full-time, Non-Exempt

Industry :                  Water and Environmental Services 

Location:                  In-Office, Bothell, WA; 

Location 2:               In-Office, Canton, OH R&D Center

Salary:                      Dependent on factors including skills; education, degree status, experience and training; licensure and certifications; and geographic location.

 

Summary:

This position will help Kubota Water and Environment USA secure membrane bioreactor (MBR) projects throughout the U.S. by developing biological designs and tank layouts, writing proposals, and preparing pricing for Kubota membrane bioreactor systems. Interns will gain hands-on experience with water reuse technologies, design processes, and industry standards under supervision and mentorship from Project Managers and Application Engineers.

 

Job Duties:         

  • Develop MBR system designs, including biological treatment processes to meet specified effluent quality. 
  • Determine required pipe and equipment sizing (pumps, blowers, etc.). 
  • Calculate budgetary and formal pricing for proposed systems. 
  • Prepare budgetary proposals for early-stage projects and bid proposals for official bids. 
  • Create BioWin models, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams, and drawings to assist engineers. 
  • Communicate with sales representatives, consulting engineers, Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators, contractors, and vendors. 
  • Attend meetings with clients, contractors, and vendors. 
  • Perform administrative tasks such as copying O&M manuals, issuing Purchase Orders, or SAP entry. 
  • Travel up to 10% for site visits or meetings.  Most tasks can be completed from our headquarters office.

 

Expected/Desired Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with wastewater treatment processes and design principles.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite; experience with AutoCAD and BioWin preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical Engineering or related field (Junior or Senior year). 
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Pursuing Master’s, PhD degree, or higher-level education in Environmental, Civil, Chemical Engineering. 
  • Coursework or experience related to wastewater treatment process engineering and/or project management.
  • Experience with BioWin, AutoCAD, and other design tools.
