The Opportunity We are seeking a motivated Polymer Chemist to join our R&D and technical team. This is an excellent role for a recent graduate or early-career chemist looking to gain hands-on experience in polymer formulation, synthesis, and scale-up in a growing manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Synthesize, formulate, and characterize water-based polyurethane and acrylic polymers
- Conduct laboratory experiments, including polymerization, blending, and performance testing
- Perform analytical testing (viscosity, pH, solids content, particle size, FTIR, etc.)
- Support scale-up from lab to production and troubleshoot manufacturing issues
- Collaborate with production, quality, and sales teams to meet customer requirements
- Maintain detailed lab records and contribute to technical reports
- Stay current with industry trends in polymer chemistry and sustainable materials
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field (required)
- 0–3 years of relevant laboratory or industrial experience (internships or co-op experience count)
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a related field is a strong plus
- Hands-on experience with polymer synthesis, formulation, or characterization is highly desirable
- Strong attention to detail, safety mindset, and ability to work both independently and in a team
- Proficient with Microsoft Office; familiarity with lab software or statistical tools is a plus
- Must be authorized to work in the United States

- Competitive base salary (target range $72,000 – $80,000 depending on qualifications) (This is in line with GROK’s other assessments.)
