Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Neuroscience Center of Excellence at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow! We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to support and conduct research on the NIH-funded project RPE Messengers, Transcription, and Photoreceptor Renewal. Working closely with the Principal Investigator and research team, the Postdoctoral Research Fellow will be actively involved in preparing Institutional Review Board (IRB) materials, performing data collection and analysis, and contributing to the development of manuscripts and dissemination of research findings.
The successful candidate will investigate cell signaling mechanisms, including the identification of G-protein receptors targeted by novel lipid mediators, and define gene clusters and proteins that regulate the integrity of retinal cells. The research involves the use of experimental genetic models combined with single-cell genomics and spatial transcriptomics to elucidate signaling pathways essential for maintaining cellular integrity. Additional responsibilities include bioinformatics analyses and advanced laboratory techniques such as LC-MS/MS lipidomics, Western blotting, and immunohistochemistry.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education: PhD or MD
Required Field of Study: Neuroscience or related field
Number of years required to perform the job: 0-2 years research experience
Type of experience required to perform the job: Candidates should possess strong qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
