Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Neuroscience Center of Excellence at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow! We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to support and conduct NIH-funded research on ischemic stroke, entitled Neuroprotective Lipid Mediators Target the Penumbra in Experimental Ischemic Stroke. In collaboration with the Principal Investigator and research team, the Postdoctoral Research Fellow will actively participate in preparing Institutional Review Board (IRB) materials, performing data collection and analysis, and contributing to manuscript development and dissemination of research findings.
The successful candidate will conduct experimental studies of brain ischemia-reperfusion injury. Research will focus on single-cell genomics and epigenomics to investigate neuroprotective responses in astrocytes, microglia/monocyte-derived macrophages, and the neurovascular unit. The position involves bioinformatics analyses and advanced laboratory techniques, including LC-MS/MS lipidomics, MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and neurobehavioral assessments.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education: PhD or MD
Required Field of Study: Neuroscience or related field
Number of years required to perform the job: 0-2 years research experience
Type of experience required to perform the job: Candidates should possess strong qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
