JK Rentals provides tents, clearspan structures, and temporary space solutions for events, construction sites, commercial projects, and long-term installations. Our team supports everything from field installation and fabrication to project management and client service, helping create safe, functional, and well-executed spaces across a wide range of industries.

We do work close to home across Wisconsin and the Chicago area, and we also travel for larger projects across the country. One week, you might be helping set up for a local wedding or community event. Next, you could be supporting a major installation tied to events like Mecum Auto Auctions, ARC Music Festival, the Wisconsin State Fair, or an event at Road America. No two weeks look exactly the same, and that is part of what makes the work exciting.

Role Description

JK Rentals is hiring a Tent and Structure Installer (General Laborer) to support the setup and teardown of tents and clearspan structures for events, construction sites, commercial projects, and long-term installations. This is hands-on, physical work for someone who likes working outdoors, staying active, learning new skills, and being part of a crew that builds something real.

You will work under a Crew Leader and alongside experienced installers to help load materials, stage equipment, assemble structures, and keep job sites safe and organized. This is an entry point into the company, but it is not a dead-end job. Team members in this role can grow into leadership roles in the field or move into other paths such as equipment operation, CDL driving, warehouse leadership, project management, or sales, depending on their goals.

What You'll Do

  • Load and unload trucks
  • Carry and stage tent and structure materials
  • Assist with frame assembly
  • Install vinyl tops and sidewalls
  • Drive stakes and set ballast systems
  • Help install flooring, doors, and entry systems
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site
  • Work closely with Crew Leaders and experienced installers to keep projects moving
  • Travel to local and out-of-town job sites as needed
  • Support a wide variety of projects, from weddings and festivals to athletic events, commercial work, and major national installs

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly
  • Comfort working outdoors in heat, cold, wind, and rain
  • Ability to work at heights when required
  • Reliable transportation
  • Willingness to start early and work long days during peak season
  • Strong attendance and punctuality
  • Positive attitude and team-first mindset

Tent, construction, or event setup experience is helpful, but not required. We train the right people. People who do well in this role tend to show initiative, mechanical awareness, teamwork, communication, accountability, and a strong respect for safety.
