You'll work directly with birthing families, learn how hospitals function day to day, and build skills that support future paths in healthcare, graduate school, or clinical training programs.
What You'll Be Doing
- Support expecting families during labor and postpartum moments with compassionate, professional communication
- Provide clear, respectful, and pressure‑free education about birth tissue donation
- Work alongside Labor & Delivery nurses and hospital staff as part of the care team
- Review medical records, complete health history screenings, and obtain informed consent
- Collect and prepare donated birth tissue using aseptic techniques
- Manage responsibilities independently while adapting to changing and unpredictable schedules
Skills & Experience You'll Gain
- Patient communication and ethical education in a clinical environment
- Exposure to Labor & Delivery workflows and hospital operations
- Experience with medical documentation, HIPAA compliance, and EMR systems
- Hands‑on training in sterile technique and specimen handling
