Retail Management Intern

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Reporting to the Thrift Shoppe & Volunteer Manager, the Retail Management Intern is responsible for assisting with day-to-day thrift shoppe operational functions. This position requires a strong attention to detail and excellent customer service skills.

 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Requires a high school diploma. 
  • Strong desire to learn along with a professional drive.
  • Standard comprehension of numeracy, including experience with point-of-sale systems.
  • Proficient communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work productivity guidelines.
  • Strong time-management skills.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

                                                                           

  • Aide with all areas of backroom operations including: receiving customer donations, processing merchandise onto the sales floor, and pricing. 
  • Assist with merchandising, including staging front window displays and rotating inventory on sales floor displays.
  • Provide clerical support to management when needed; such as tracking volunteer hours, updating staff schedule, and working as a backup on register. 
  • Provide support to Thrift Shoppe & Volunteer Manager to recruit and train new volunteers. This may include participating in volunteer recruitment events in the community or in-store, calling perspective volunteers and follow-up on volunteer application.
  • Ability to interact with customers in a professional manner and assist with any questions and the loading and unloading of merchandise into vehicles.
  • Must comply with store security, safety, and loss prevention guidelines.
  • Work on special projects and tasks as assigned.
